Sunday 17th June saw me visit another event for the first time. This one was called Belper Steam & Vintage Event in Derbyshire. It ran for the weekend and I decided to visit on the Sunday as it forecast better weather. This was also my first steam event of 2018.
The price for this event was :
There was something for everyone to see at this event. You had fairground rides for the children as well as Luke Fox's Wall of Death, an attraction you rarely see at events.
There was also vintage cars, commercial vehicles, steam traction engines large and small, military vehicles, vintage tractors on display and plenty of trade and refreshment stalls. Live entertainment was provided throughout the day by 1940s singer Paula Marie, entertainment for the children with Chester Mazing the Magical Clown. Other live entertainment was available on the Saturday by C J Jackson and Joey and the Hotrods.
In the middle of all of those was the arena where the owners could parade their vehicles and let the public know a little bit about their vehicle and let the public see these vintage vehicles and machines working. The arena wasn't only used for the vehicles but also the Kanreith Gun Dogs display team and Jorvik Vikingr battle re-enactments. We were also treated to a fly past by a Spitfire from the BBMF based at RAF Coningsby.
