The skies over Sewerby Fields near Bridlington in East Yorkshire during the 6th & 7th May were filled with kites of all shapes, sizes and characters as Bridlington Kite Festival returned for another year.
This was a free event to attend and was sponsored by Bridlington Tourism Association (BTA) and the event was made up of members from NKG (The Northern Kite Group) which was formed in 1978 and performs at many events not just only in the UK but abroad.
The event started at 10 am and finished at 5 pm (weather permitting) both days and on the Saturday that I attended the wind was a little too much to get some of the larger kites into the sky.
Parking wasn't a problem as I arrived at 11 am so it was still early enough to find plenty of parking. Even when I left at 2.30 pm there were still plenty of spaces. You could even park along the seafront and catch the road train to Sewerby Fields.
For the time I spent at this event I have to say it was a good time spent. Not only was there plenty to see with the kites, but you also had refreshment stalls and toilet facilities. From my point of view the only thing that I wished was better was the weather. It would have been nice to have some blue skies instead of the sky being grey and flat.
