On Saturday 13th May in the afternoon I visited Horsted Keynes station along the Bluebell Railway, as they were having a Branch Line weekend. The weather was good, dry and hot with some nice blue skies with the occasional cloud cover. I didn't really know what to expect from this afternoon, especially as it was just a quick visit to the station.
Because I wasn't travelling on a train I had to pay for station entry which was £3 per adult. This gave me access to all platforms and the pinic area which overlooked the railway line.
During the afternoon visitors had the chance to have a ride on a brake van pulled by a locomotive. Today's locomotive was Loco 323 P Class "Bluebell"
Originally I planned to visit over this weekend as they normally held their "Southern at War" weekend event, but found out before visiting that this "Branch Line" event was being held instead. Never having been to one of these events before I decided to visit and see what was happening. If I am honest I don't think this could be an event I could spend all day at, which is why I only spent just over an hour and a half at the station. I still enjoyed my afternoon at Horsted Keynes and I did manage to take a few photos and record some video footage.
